This past weekend some friends and I threw a baby shower for our dear friend Chena. Guests included friends from high school and college, interior design colleagues, and her knitting group. With such a creative and diverse group of women, it was no surprise to see an array of beautiful baby gifts, such as hand-sewn wall art and shoes, hand-knitted quilts/blankets, and a photo book pre-set up for all the monumental occasions in a baby's life. Chena, we hope you had a wonderful time! I can't wait to meet baby Wright :)

Step-by-Step Guide to 4" Herb Party Favors
One of my very best friends, who is 6 months pregnant, was recently in town from DC. So, a few of us Portland girls got together and decided to throw her a baby shower. Amongst my responsibilities were the party favors, items I have never been a huge fan of (mostly because they get tossed away and forgotten about almost as soon as you get them). After a little brainstorming, I decided the favors should be festive, live beyond the day of the shower, and be as 'green' as possible. The resulting favors...darling mini-herbs. If you're a gardener, you may already have some of the materials on hand. Happy planting!
Voila!!

Off to the Oregon Coast!!
Event: Day at the Coast
Date: April 2, 2011
Venue: Canon Beach and Gearhart Beach, Oregon
Ken and I had been waiting for a calm weekend with a low chance of rain to escape to the coast. Our 7-month old puppy Sophie was finally at an age where she could appreciate the sandy beaches and run until she was exhausted. Armed with two cameras, five lenses, one tripod and a bag of snacks / dog treats...we were off!
